Oakhurst Independent Hose Company No. 1 is a volunteer fire department serving the communities of Oakhurst and Wayside. What began as 13 dedicated citizens in 1913 has grown into a robust force of volunteer firefighters responding to hundreds of calls annually. As one of the oldest and most respected organizations in the Township of Ocean, we continue the tradition of neighbors helping neighbors, protecting our community with modern equipment, extensive training, and the same volunteer spirit that has defined us for generations.
